The Cularis is the last thing that will stop you. Providing supreme heat management and durable protection in an almost forgettably lightweight helmet, the Cularis is ready to go the distance.

HOW THE HELMET TAKES YOU FURTHER

The new Cularis is the trail helmet made to go the distance. To do this, we focused on ventilation and weight, while still ensuring safety.

Utilising methods like heat flux modelling and extensive computational fluid dynamics (CFD) testing to fine-tune airflow, a process more normally used in the development of our road cycling helmets, we were able to develop effective ventilation that works at high and low speeds. And when ventilation works at any speed, you’re able to stay more comfortable whether grinding up a long ascent or finding your flow on a fast, smooth descent.

SAFETY THAT SETS YOU FREE

Another key aspect of being able to go further, is being able to stay comfortable for longer, and there, the weight of the helmet plays a key role. The Cularis is our lightest trail helmet yet, weighing 350g (EU standards, size M). With so few extra grams on your head, it’s easy to forget the helmet is there.

But despite being lightweight and well ventilated, the helmet also works to keep you safe. Receiving a 5-star rating in independent testing by Virginia Tech, the helmet works to keep you protected from a variety of impact types and forces, more similar to real-life scenarios than those tested for in the lab.

WHOLE HELMET CONCEPT®

The helmet was created by following our Whole Helmet Concept®, where we design each helmet from a user perspective, focusing on user needs and experiences. Here, comfort is exceptionally important, as is protection.

We worked to include a range of technologies and features to keep you safe on the trails. Details like bridges of Aramid between the helmet shell and liner, which work both to improve penetration protection and to enhance the structural stability of the whole helmet, are included.

Other highlight technologies include Mips Air Node, a new system from rotational impact specialists Mips, which adds a low-friction layer on to the base of the helmet’s comfort padding which allows controlled slippage in the event of an impact to help better manage impact forces.

Other features include a patented breakaway helmet peak which will snap off in the event of an impact, helping reduce the amount of force that is transferred to the body from any frontal collisions.

Taken together, these features work to keep you safe on the trails, offering protection from a wide variety of types of impact, so you stay safe, no matter how you fall.

THE DESIGNER PERSPECTIVE Creating a helmet that was exceptionally comfortable, so comfortable that you could easily forget you were wearing it, was a key aim in the development of the new Cularis trail helmet. TRUSTED BY ATHLETES

The lightweight helmet was a natural choice for New Zealand-based mountain bike athlete Ben Hildred, who has been on a mission to climb 1,000,000 feet (304,800m) in just 100 days, doing what has never been done before.

A daily testament to the power of mindset, Ben has been averaging 10,000 feet per day (3,048m) while running his full-time business. When asked about his motivation behind the immense undertaking, his answer remains true and pure: “I just want to ride my bike.”

It’s in situations like these where the low weight and the ventilation of the mountain bike helmet become exceptionally clear. His journey is testament that it truly is made to go the distance.
