Product description
The ski helmet that can speak for you when you can't.
Giving you extra functionality and traceability in the backcountry, the Obex BC Mips features integrated technology not only to make it easier to find you if something goes wrong in the wilderness, but also to give rescuers the information they need for your treatment as soon as they reach you.
A RECCO® reflector enhances your searchability in wilderness zones, while the Twiceme® NFC Medical ID allows you to store all your emergency and contact details so that they can be easily accessed by a first responder at the scene of any accident.
Offering exceptional comfort for long days in the mountains, the helmet offers easily adjustable ventilation so you can control airflow through the helmet. A 360° fit system makes it easy to find a secure and comfortable fit.
The helmet is both light and durable, thanks to an inner liner of EPS and a dual-material outer shell using more durable materials in risk zones.
A Seamless Fit with POC goggles improves overall comfort and performance, with shared features like ventilation channels working together to enhance comfort and performance.

KEY FEATURES
PRODUCT FEATURES

The Obex BC Mips is the backcountry-focused model in the Obex series, built with extra structural protection and rescue technology that the resort-oriented Obex models don't include.
Obex Mips is the all-day resort standard, using a hybrid ABS/PC shell for durability and weight balance
Obex Contour and Obex Pure are lighter, single-material builds aimed at lift-served all-mountain days rather than backcountry travel
Obex BC Mips adds aramid panels between the shell and liner for extra structural stability and penetration protection in more exposed terrain
Only the BC model integrates a RECCO® Avalanche Rescue Reflector and a Twiceme® NFC Medical ID
All models in the series share the same core EPS liner and Mips-based rotational protection, so the choice comes down to how far off the piste you're heading
Both are POC's dedicated backcountry ski and snowboard helmets with RECCO® and Twiceme® built in, but they differ in shell construction, weight, and Mips technology.
Obex BC Mips uses a dual-material outer shell with more durable materials placed in risk zones, while Fornix BC uses a single polycarbonate shell
Obex BC Mips runs slightly heavier (500–590g by size) than the Fornix BC (490–550g), reflecting its added structural reinforcement
Both are ASTM F2040 and EN 1077B certified for ski and snowboard use
See the Fornix BC Ski Helmet if you're comparing backcountry options side by side
The Twiceme® NFC Medical ID lets a first responder or ski touring partner access your medical profile instantly by tapping a smartphone on the helmet, even if you're unconscious or unable to communicate.
Medical information is stored on a chip built into the helmet shell, not on an app you need to remember to open
Readable by any NFC-enabled smartphone, no signal or cell service required
Designed specifically for remote backcountry skiing and ski touring situations where help may be delayed
You can control what medical details are stored and shared
A RECCO® Avalanche Rescue Reflector is a passive chip built into the helmet that lets organized rescue teams locate you faster in the backcountry using a RECCO detector.
Requires no battery or activation, it works automatically whenever you're wearing the helmet
Detected by RECCO helicopter and ground search systems used by rescue organizations in backcountry and ski touring terrain
Complements, but doesn't replace, an avalanche transceiver, shovel, and probe for backcountry travel
Helps rescuers pinpoint your location faster after an avalanche or backcountry accident
POC's BC ski helmets are developed for backcountry skiers, ski tourers, and splitboarders who spend long days earning their turns deep in the mountains, away from resort infrastructure.
Built for durability and comfort across variable weather and longer uphill efforts
Adjustable ventilation helps manage temperature changes between the skin track and the descent
Integrated RECCO® reflector and Twiceme® Medical ID address the specific rescue needs of off-piste and backcountry terrain
360° fit system and cradle adjuster support an all-day comfortable fit
A natural pairing for skiers already using backcountry-specific touring gear
