How do you deal with adversity?

I focus on my goals and draw strength from my journey. As a cyclist, you learn how important it is to be disciplined and perseverant. I sometimes compare the challenges in my cycling career to the obstacles I have already faced in my life, telling myself, “If I survived those, there is nothing to stop me now.”

What do you give up in your everyday life to live your dream?

I do not think that I give up anything important in my life to live my dream, because I believe that people should live in the moment and enjoy the process. Sometimes I hear from people that I am missing some party or festivity. I totally respect that because everyone has their own priorities for enjoying life, and I can understand that they can be different from mine, which is being on my bike or being with my family.

Is there someone who has been particularly important to you in your career?

Sure, everyone needs a person to keep them motivated, no matter how strong they are. Every member of the Stockholm Cycling Club played an important role in my career in their own way. However, in these past years, Pierre Moncorgé has been especially significant. He was my teammate in the beginning and is now my coach and manager. His wise advice about cycling and life has helped me develop my career. He is a former pro cyclist who competed at a high level while studying at university, and I believe that is why we work so well together. I can use his experience in cycling to further my own career.

When you're completely exhausted, what keeps you going?

Having a clear sense of purpose and understanding why I am doing what I am doing helps me keep pushing even when I am tired and have no energy left. Then the power of the mind takes over. Sometimes, I feel a sense of responsibility, to myself and to the team, that keeps me motivated to get the job done.
