The job
As Apparel Design Director, you will shape the seasonal creative direction of POC’s apparel collections – from early concept development through final execution and activation. Working closely with key team members, you will ensure our collections strengthen POC’s premium positioning within safety, performance, and design.
This is a senior, studio-based role requiring daily presence at our Stockholm Headquarters to enable close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Collection Preparation – Concept Direction:
Lead the seasonal conceptual phase by researching and developing design concepts based on assignments from the Chief Product Officer. Present and refine ideas through feedback loops. Develop identity guidelines for each collection, including seasonal colours, design language, and strategic focus areas such as visibility identity within road cycling.
Collection Execution – Creative Leadership:
Lead the creative development of collections according to the seasonal line plan. Develop product briefs and design files, participate in fit sessions, support pattern making, and collaborate with vendors during development. Select fabrics and trims in line with performance and premium positioning. Present updates to management and support brand, content, and sales teams in range activation. Ensure work follows timelines and planning set by the Apparel Director.
Team Inspiration & Vision:
Provide strong creative leadership to the apparel team, inspiring elevated output across pattern making, materials, and visual identity. Balance innovation with commercial understanding, ensuring collections meet performance, safety, and brand standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with product, development, sourcing, marketing, and sales teams to ensure cohesive execution from concept to market. Contribute to seasonal presentations and strategic product discussions.
To be successful in this role, you are likely to have:
- 10+ years of experience in apparel design
- 4+ years of experience leading apparel design teams
- Relevant education in apparel and/or fashion design
- Strong expertise in performance apparel and technical fabrics, particularly within cycling
- Ability to combine aesthetic innovation with commercial awareness
- Deep understanding of premium brand positioning within performance categories
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite and Clo3D
- Basic knowledge of Lectra/Gerber is a plus
- Fluency in English (additional EU languages are a plus)
