About poc

Born and based in Stockholm, Sweden, we are a safety and performance pioneer on a global mission: protect lives and reduce the consequences of accidents for athletes and anyone inspired to be one. At the core of everything we believe and do lies data, research, and rigorous testing. Whether on the mountains, trails, or winding roads, a ride with POC is a ride protected by science.

Striking the POC balance.

PRODUCT PHILOSOPHY

Every one of our products starts the same: by finding and defining a problem. What follows is a meticulous process guided by three core principles: safety, performance and design. From material selection to shaping to colour and everything in between, every product decision is weighed according to these principles until we achieve the best possible harmony between the three, resulting in well-crafted protection for elite-level performance. But harmony does not mean conformity. With an explorative and curious mindset, we’re not afraid to create products that break convention and stand out from the crowd.

Eliminating the guesswork.

WORKING WITH POC LAB

Just like the athletes we support, we’re diligent in our tracking of data and relentless in our questioning, determined to find every single area for improvement. Getting to know all the parameters and variables of a sport is what allows us to create products that could not only reduce the consequences of an accident, but prevent it altogether. Lenses that enhance your vision, colours that get you noticed, ventilation channels that keep you cool and level-headed are a few examples of what our preventive work can lead to. At the forefront of this work lies POC Lab, consisting of our Tech & Research team and Advisory Board.

POC LAB: TECH & RESEARCH

With a holistic and innovative approach to safety, our in-house Tech & Research team uses pre-studies, testing and extensive research to develop ideas that haven’t been tried before. Crash simulations, wind tunnels and athlete analysis are a few examples of what may lead to our most agile back protector, our clearest goggles or our safest helmet yet.

POC LAB: ADVISORY BOARD

Bringing a wide range of valuable expertise and insight, the POC Lab Advisory Board introduces new perspectives that challenge and guide us in problem-solving and product development. Members of the board include spinal cord injury expert Claes Hultling, traffic research authority Magdalena Lindman, and head trauma specialist Per Hamid Ghatan. Learn more about the work they do here.

POC and Autoliv have been working together to assess the potential of using airbag technology in helmets. World-first crash test of bike helmets against cars together with Volvo Cars.

Protection is an all-round approach.

SUSTAINABILITY WORK

POC will never compromise on safety. Whilst safety on the road or mountains is at our core, we work hard to keep the planet safe as well.

A lot of our products are a natural part of a sustainable transport solution, by getting more people on bikes, but as a company putting products on the market, we need to be mindful of the resources.

Project Blueprint is our long-term and ongoing commitment to lower our environmental impact without jeopardising the safety of our products. Read more: Project Blueprint

Letting passion lead the way.

POC CULTURE

We collaborate with partners, athletes, colleagues and events all over the world, yet we all have the same thing in common: passion. Whether that passion is to develop a new type of protective lens or to get the highest ranking in alpine skiing, we’re all constantly seeking new and unconventional ways to keep sports moving forward. To be able to keep doing this thing we love in an even safer way.

Our version of success.

AWARDS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Since 2004, we’ve worked hard to be at the forefront of safety and performance, resulting in upward of 70 awards. While a pat on the back, a trophy and an acknowledgement feel great, they don’t come close to the e-mails, phone calls and messages we receive from athletes and customers all over the world; messages telling us we’ve protected them from injury. And sometimes even saved their lives.

Highlights

2019

A partnership with twICEme® allowed us to for the first time add an NFC Medical ID chip to a helmet, creating the helmet that can speak for you when you can’t.

2018

The Ventral helmet platform was launched. By using our whole-helmet approach to development, we were able to deliver unparalleled levels of aerodynamic performance, safety and ventilation without compromises

2017

Together with Zeiss, POC developed Clarity lens technology.

2016

The Coron and Tectal helmets were launched.

The Aspire sunglasses were released.

2015

POC’s airbag vest released. It consisted of integrated sensors and used a precise algorithm to distinguish between a crash or fall from the normal forces associated with Alpine racing.

2013

POC and Volvo Cars started a safety collaboration.
